The legal system was supposed to protect them both... It was supposed to make sure that their star witness, the one person who could testify about the murder, made it to court. It was also supposed to make sure that the attorney for the state never had to look over her shoulder... but it failed them both.

Alexa knew she was in trouble when she saw the guy following her through the store parking lot, she knew by the way he moved that he was trouble. She got nervous, that was her first mistake. She dropped her car keys when she tried to open her car door, that was her second mistake, and she took her eyes off of him, that was the mistake that cinched the deal. He was on her before she could scream... Tomiko thought the celebration dinner was too soon, she went because her boss told her to go. She put on a good show for everyone. Talking about how the case was definitely won and that the defendant had no chance of getting off once their star witness took the stand. Little did she know, her co-workers weren't the only ones listening to her conversation. She didn't know until she left, walking out into the dark parking lot to head home.
